Cracked screen repair guide and other mobile phones tips and tricks. You need a phone, but your screen is cracked. So, what can you do? Well, a good option is to just use an old phone instead. Whether your phone cannot be used due to the smashed screen, or its been sent away for repairs, you’ll need a replacement. The best place to find one is usually stashed away in the back of a drawer. Even if you don’t have an old phone you can switch to temporarily, a friend or relative might. Ask, and you’ll have a handy replacement until you’ve decided what to do with your phone and its cracked screen.
First, assess the damage, and that means getting your phone on a solid surface and in a good light, not just giving it a quick once-over before stuffing it back in your pocket. With a little bit of stress testing and careful prodding you should be able to work out whether the screen is about to fall off or fail completely. In a lot of cases it will stay in place, cracks and all, so you can at least keep tweeting, so long as the screen is still visible and functioning. Finally, unless you’re already accomplished at repairing modern solid-state electronics, you probably lack the specialized tools you’ll need for the job. Luckily, iFixit sells a handy kit that includes pretty much everything you’ll need, with the possible exception of their iOpener, a tube you heat up and apply to the phone to soften its adhesives.
Repair manual websites like iFixIt have several tutorials on how to fix various devices’ phone screens, complete with guides on what components you should purchase and where you can get them. This can get a little pricey — an iPhone 6 screen repair kit costs about $150 — but it is cheaper than buying a new phone altogether. Of course, not all of us have the skills or time to fix our own phone screens.
Toothpaste gives you nice breath AND hides the scratches on your phone. This method can fix a small scratch, or at least hide it. Put a tiny bit of toothpaste on a cotton bud and rub it on the scratch, making sure it doesn’t find its way into headphone sockets, buttons or other vulnerable parts of your device. It will make your phone minty fresh, although it won’t restore it to mint condition. But this is amateur stuff, i recommend to see a professional. Read more info on iPhone repair tips.
