Fear of speaking in public can be a major obstacle if you want to develop your career. Here are a few public speaking tips and a recommendation if you are searching for a public speaking class. Use Audiovisual Aids Wisely. Too many can break the direct connection to the audience, so use them sparingly. They should enhance or clarify your content, or capture and maintain your audience’s attention. Practice Does Not Make Perfect: Good communication is never perfect, and nobody expects you to be perfect. However, putting in the requisite time to prepare will help you deliver a better speech. You may not be able to shake your nerves entirely, but you can learn to minimize them.
Try to enjoy yourself (or at least look like it!): If you look bored, then the audience will think you are bored. And if you’re bored by the topic, then why should anyone listening be interested? When you come out, have a smile on your face, make it seem like your happy and thankful to be there (even if you’d rather be in bed watching Netflix). If you feel confident enough to do so, add a little humour (as long as it’s appropriate). This will help you and your audience relax, and break the ice if the room is feeling a little tense or unfriendly. Read extra info Public speaking trainer.
Use humor and emotion. It doesn’t matter what you are talking about. There is always a place for emotion or humor, or both. I once gave a presentation about data analytics at a conference — boring! So I made sure to weave in plenty of humor to spice things up. I find self-deprecating humor to work the best. And if you are starting to get emotional, so what? Use it. The audience may not remember everything you said, but they will remember how you made them feel.
What people say ? Don’t skip the steps! If you don’t take the steps, if you don’t take action—nothing changes. Since you’re reading this review, that most likely means you’re considering getting the book which also tells me you want something in your life to change. I assure you, if you put into action the steps in this book, your life will never be the same (in a great way!). It will be worth every penny. It will be worth every minute you put into the book. There will be no time wasted here. I have read so many books on the subject of public speaking & find “Speak With No Fear” by Mike Acker, a refreshing one to read. The Amazon book can be purchased here: How to manage better book.
Invest in visual aids: Imagine a presentation with beautiful PowerPoint slides and even more impressive notes given to each of your audience members. Half of the time, their eyes will not be on you. They will read through the notes and your fancy slides. This will help a lot as you can then speak to the people who are not looking at you. When they look at you, you just change your focus to other people who are not looking. Giving a speech to people who are not looking at you is always easier.
